How Much
Okay - the heat is unbearable and it's predicted that it will reach 108 degrees this weekend. Yippee. We had the small window air conditioner on for a bit today. I turned it off and the thing blew a fuse. Half the house is out. Now we wait tomorrow for an electrician.
Grrrr - the heat is making me sick. It also makes it difficult to get cats inside after dark. We've a bad coyote problem and its dangerous for them during the day, let alone at night.
Okay - go out, find a cat, drag it in. Repeat process awhile later.
Finally at 9;15pm I hear a cat fight down by the creek. I walk down there with a small flashlight, thanking the gods that I chopped the weeds down all the way to the creek! Scary stuff at night. Okay, no sign of cats. Wait a minute - eyes caught in the light - across the creek. What? I catch sight of one. Wicket?
How the hell did Wicket get across the creek? Better question, how the hell do I get him back? You can't walk to the road/bridge from the creek. It would require getting into the car, driving across the bridge, parking and then walking 3/10 through the brush to find the cat. No path and not knowing whose land it is over there. So not happening!
Okay - Wicket, follow the flashlight, jump on the rocks and dive in the water to get to me! So not happening.
Sigh. Okay - fine. I'm in sleeveless t-shirt, boxer shorts and sandals. I get into the creek. Oh bloody hell! Snow run off! It's 85 degrees out and the water is freezing. Okay, make my way across said creek by flashlight. A moss covered rock-filled creek. Grab the very strong male cat. Walk across creek by flashlight with terrified, very strong male cat without dropping him. Fight with cat to save cat.
Get across and out of creek. Fight with terrified cat to get up bank. Set cat down, reassure cat, pick up cat and squish up to the house.
How much do I love my cats? That much! Wow!
