Okay - yesterday was miserable. We used the window A/C for a hour on Thursday afternoon and when I turned it off it blew the fuse - half the house without electric. Sigh - go outside and flip switches. Nope - nada - didn't throw the breaker, it blew the fuse.
I've never played with these types of fuses. Call the property manager - wait for call back, after hours. Next morning, call company and let them know we've a problem. They'll send someone out to fix it. This is Friday. Stayed off the modem waiting for word from the handyman. He finally called at 4:15pm, said he'd call back to get directions. Never did.
Okay - now Saturday morning: by 10am no word from the handyman. Enough of that. Go outside, turn the power off, unscrew the wire from the breaker, pull breaker out and take it to the hardware store. Thankfully they had one in the basement. Come home, put wire back in - figure how the thing went in - throw switches. Hurray!
We're arranging fans around to utilize those more than the A/C - that thing gets SO hot that it's almost scary. We're thinking of maybe a swamp cooler instead. More efficent and work well until it gets up over 103.
We called the blot off for tomorrow. Without the AC it would have been insane to have 10 people in the living room, especially with cooking for a potluck and we weren't sure it would be fixed by tomorrow. We'll have our Summer blot in a couple of weeks - hopefully at John and Bertski's in the pool.
Jenny, Dave, and Jackie are coming up anyway. We'll discuss the upcoming campout - watch the Wicker Man and eat.
I was so hot yesterday I got heat sick - really, really heat sick. I did some weed whacking early in the morning and drank plenty of water but it still got to me. I couldn't put two thoughts together at all. A pulled neck muscle didn't help. Took a muscle relaxer and anti-inflamm and slept a couple of hours - helped a lot but the mind was still fuzzy with the heat.
Doing a little better today.
