If you could rename yourself in real life, what would you choose, and why?
Jamie Anne Cooper. My father's name was Robert, my mother Kathlene and they didn't want to name me Roberta or Katie. Mom wanted to name me Jamie after his brother James but dad was set against it, jealous over the friendship James had with my mom.
With my dad in the service, Mom was stuck at home in a strange place with none of her family. Uncle James became a friend that would get her out of the house and ensure she was okay.
Years later, I reconnected with my father's side of the family and met my uncle through email, pictures and telephone. I discovered that he was a kind, gentle and loving guy who wanted me back in the family (long story - Mom and Dad divorced when I was four). Plans were made to see them this summer (cross country trip). He was the one I wanted to meet: James and his family. Out of the family of aunts and one uncle, it was my uncle that opened his arms the widest.
Then came news he had gone into the hospital with heart problems and didn't make it through.
I would be honored to have the name Jamie, named for my Uncle
